The Perfect Tear paper towel holder eliminates waste by allowing exactly the desired number of paper towel sheets to be torn off the roll with just one hand. The secret lies in the secure, horizontally wall-mounted base and the ratchet system inside the towel holder. By allowing the roll to make incremental turns in just one direction, the ratchet holds the roll steady during pulling and tearing, thus preventing unraveling.

Three parts come with this towel holder: a weighted chrome arm that protrudes five inches from the wall (two screw holes are on a two-inch center; two 1-1/8-inch screws and two plastic sleeves are included); an 11-inch metal dowel that screws into the arm and features a bullet-shape tip; and a flexible wire cage through which the central dowel passes that conforms to the inside cardboard tube of a paper towel roll. The dowel and cage attach to the arm without tools, but a Phillips-head screwdriver (and possibly a drill) is needed for the wall-mounting. After going through four towel holders in the past two years, I finally hit on the answer! This thing works great. The towels are easy to pull off but they don't keep unwinding. Especially nice for a motor home as the vibration in motion sometimes unrolls the towels. The only thing wrong with it is that it's not much to look at. But after a few towels roll off perfectly you'll forget about the way it looks!

Purchased this for our office restroom. I ordered it because the ratchet system seemed to control the amount of paper towels that would roll off. No doubt, the ratchet keeps the towels under control but the noise is awful. We can hear it from one office into another! Not so sure we'll keep this one for that reason. We have it mounted horizontally, saw another reviewer had the same noise complaint with theirs mounted vertically so doesn't appear that would make a difference.

I too thought that I had found the perfect paper towel holder with this product! It looks good and worked beautifully in controlling the paper towel roll from unravelling...for about 3 weeks. Within a month's worth of use (2 adults, no kids) the ratchet inside the holder failed and the thing now acts like a regular paper towel holder. I see where many other buyers have had this exact problem and around the same time-period. I wish I had seen the product reviews BEFORE I had purchased this (I bought it at a chain home store that doesn't offer customer reviews on their web site). This failure is very disappointing, especially since it seems to be an ongoing choice of materials problem that could be solved by the manufacturer, but hasn't. Don't waste your time or money!

I'll keep it short and sweet. It works like it should. It holds the paper towels securely, you can tear off a towel with one hand. It looks good, and for the price, it cannot be beat. If you're thinking about this item, just buy it, you'll be glad you did!

This towel holder is just great, allowing you to tear off a single sheet with one hand. You just have to remember to put the paper towel roll on the holder the right way so the sheet tears off at the top. I got mine three and a half years ago. For the last few months the rod holding the roll has been sagging down from where it connects to the mounting bracket. It finally came off completely and it wouldn't hold when I tried to screw it back into the bracket.

I called Lifetime Brands at (516) 683-6000 and navigated to Customer Service. An agent came on right away. They asked what company made the holder, but all I knew was Lifetime Brands as listed in the description here. I also no longer had the box which had the item number for this model. The agent patiently had me to go to their Pfaltzgraff site and walked me through identifying this model from their line of paper towel holders. It turns out to be Iten No. F1227000. The agent did not ask for any proof of purchase, just took down my information to send me a replacement. Great customer service!!!
